NRA Basic Course of Rifle and Shotgun
DATES: 8am to 6pm Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019 and 8am to 6 pm Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019

COST: $55 for both Rifle and Shotgun Basic or $30 for one discipline, this covers room, ammunition, and instructional material.
The course teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle and shotgun in target shooting. It includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles and shotguns. Students learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook and Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet. They will then take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination and Basics of Shotgun Shooting Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate.

NRA Rifle and Shotgun Instructor Course
DATES: 7 pm Friday, Sept. 6, 2019 – 5 pm Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019
WHERE: Camp Tuscarora, 205 Summit Lake Rd. A, Windsor, NY 13865
COST: $240, this covers room, board, ammunition, and instructional material.
The course will include topics on rifle/shotgun knowledge and safe handling, ammunition knowledge, firing the first shots, the various positions used in rifle shooting, how to evaluate and improve the performance of beginning shooters and rifle and shotgun sports and activities. In addition, we will review how an instructor fits into the NRA basic firearm training program, using a training team to deliver the program, training materials and aids and how to use them, and the essentials of organizing a rifle or shotgun course.
