Boy Scouts to Honor Molly Reagan as the 2023 Cortland County Distinguished Citizens Award Recipient

On April 27, 2023, the Boy Scouts of America, Baden-Powell Council will honor Molly Reagan with its prestigious Cortland County Distinguished Citizen Award during its annual fundraising dinner held in the Hathaway House on Rt 41 in Solon. 

As this year’s honoree, Molly will be recognized by the Baden-Powell Council, B.S.A. and other business and community leaders for her significant achievements and service to the community. A mother, artist, musician and educator, Molly has brightened Cortland area with her many talents. She is an Art Teacher at St. Mary’s School in Cortland, Crown City Little League baseball coach, 1st & 2nd grade basketball coach, creator of PorchFest, Aquatics Director at the Cortland Youth Bureau, singer in “Molly & the Ringwalds” and “Skyline Jazz”, and a freelance artist with her own “Good Neighbor Art” studio. Molly serves on the Board of Directors for Main Street Music Series, Catholic Charities, as well as Cortland County Visitors Bureau. You may have gazed upon one of her colorful murals and works of art around the area including the Cortland Youth Center, the Suggett Park basketball courts, the Ithaca Science Center, 50 Main Street, Experience Cortland Visitors Center, Frosted Bakery, Janke Chiropractic and Crossfit Cortland.  

In addition to honoring Mrs. Reagan, the evening will showcase the positive benefits that Scouting contributes to Cortland County. Scouts from Cortland County will participate in the evening’s ceremonies and will share their Scouting leadership experiences which showcase the positive effect that Scouting has on the lives of young people and service to the community.

Proceeds from the Cortland County Distinguished Citizens Dinner help fund critical Scouting programs throughout Cortland County and its surrounding communities.
