An upgrade to e107 v0.7.12 which fixes some serious security flaws as well as a few bugs (none of which seem to affect us) was carried out on August 31. 

In addition, the Development Site was mirrored.  This went smoothly, except for the particular Upcoming Events menus - in the future be sure to transfer all new plugin_menu.php files as well as the database, user files, and site images.

Check out the new Navigation Menu for Camping and Scout Activities that is now implemented on specific pages on the web site.  Provides easy consistent access to a variety of information, brochures, and forms.

Write a one-page report titled “The Best Book I Read This Year” and enter it in the Boys’ Life 2008 “Say Yes to Reading!” contest. The book can be fiction or nonfiction. But the report has to be in your own words — 500 words tops. Enter in one of these three age categories:

• 8 years old and younger
• 9 and 10 years old
• 11 years old and older

Entries must be postmarked by Dec. 31, 2008 and must include entry information and a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Our next Train the Trainer for the NEW Cub Scout Basic Leader
 Training Course is Sept. 13 in Freeville/Dryden. We are looking for LOTS of  Pack Trainers and other  interested Scouters, so we can get our new Cub leaders trained this fall, in their own units, at their own convenience. As you know, one of the best ways to  keep our Scouting program moving forward, is to have well trained leaders. Thanks for your help in promoting this course.

Stephen Hoitt (Council Excutive) announced on August 12 the appointment of Andy Zilnik as the new Senior District Executive for Hiawatha District.  Andy has severed on the Baden-Powell Council Staff for 2 ½ years as District Executive for Delahanna District and Camp Director for Camp Tuscarora.  Andy will start his new position officially on September 1^st.  Please join me in congratulating Andy on his promotion.

A Help Navigation Menu for Admins has been implemented on Admin News page, and other admin help pages.  It can be edited in the Site Links under the Render Type 2 (alt 2).  The short code SITELINKS2_ALT.sc is used to make it appear in content pages.
