Hiawatha District Eagle Project and Board of Review Process

The meetings are scheduled the first Wednesday of each month. Emerson Network Power has graciously offered the use of their brand new conference rooms to hold the meetings.

Complete the following steps for a Project Review -

Please note that proper grammar, salutations and letter writing via email or any other method of communication must be used, as this is a formal process.  Be sure to include your full name/email address, troop number and your Scoutmaster’s name/email address on each correspondence.  You must also copy in at least your Scoutmaster on each email.

Go to this website, https://eagleboard.acuityscheduling.com , to request a project review meeting at least 2 weeks prior to the next scheduled meeting which are setup for the first Wednesday of each month.  Choose the first available time slot, your actual time with be emailed when the schedule is finalized - by the Sunday prior to the meeting date.  You will be asked for your name, phone number, email address, date of birth, unit number, Scoutmaster name/email and Unit Committee Chair name/email.  **Please list any Special Needs/Limitations of the Scout that the board needs to consider when evaluating this project. This is to assist the board in understanding any challenges, restrictions, limitations or special circumstances that board can understand.

All contact information including email addresses must be filled out on page 6.

Signatures from the Life Scout, Unit Leader, Unit Committee Chair and Beneficiary must be filled out on page 10 (this can be scanned and emailed or faxed).

The Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project Workbook must be completely filled out pages 1-10 (Required).

The Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project Workbook filled out pages 11-17 (Highly recommended to prepare for Board Review).  Please have notes, etc. to discuss your project details.

Also include the materials and tools list required to complete the project as well as a plan for acquiring the money needed to fund the project.

Remember, the write-up should be detailed enough so that someone else can read it and actually have all the information required to do the project.

Email (preferred method) or fax your project at least 1 week prior to the meeting.  All signature pages must also be sent at this time.

Follow up:

          -Once the project is received, you will be contacted with a date and time for your review.

-Arrive at the meeting at least 10 minutes early, in Class A uniform, with all the information needed for review of your project.

-You will meet the board and discuss your project. Approval or requests for more information and changes will be made at the meeting.

-Work on the project cannot begin until it is reviewed and approved by the board.

-Any significant changes to the project after approval must be pre-approved by the board. Remember to document ALL changes to the project.

-A representative of the unit may sit in to observe only on an Eagle Project Review.

Complete your Eagle Scout Application with all signatures.

Complete the Eagle Scout Biography and Project Summary complete. Be sure to include the statement of your ambitions and life purpose and a listing of positions held in your religious institution, school, camp, community, or other organizations during which you demonstrated leadership skills. Include honors and awards received during this service.

 Email (preferred) or fax your project, Eagle Scout Biography and Project Summary and Eagle application at least 1 week prior to the meeting or prior to your 18th birthday, whichever is sooner. All signature pages must also be sent at this time.  

Follow up:

          -Once the all of the information is received, you will be contacted with a date and time for your review.

-Bring the advancement report completed by the troop leadership to be turned in with the Eagle Scout application.

-Bring your reference letters.

            -Arrive at the meeting at least 10 minutes early, in Class A uniform, with all the information needed for review of your project.

- Have one or both of your parents attend, if possible.

- A representative of the unit (must be a non-parent) may sit in to observe only on an Eagle Board of Review.

- You will meet the board and discuss your project and your Eagle BOR.

- Held 6:00PM to 8:30PM the 1st Wednesday of each month.

Directions:

Clinton to West Street, turn right (if coming from East/Binghamton, otherwise turn left) on West Street. Just past the Firehouse, West Street has a 3 way intersection with Phelps. Go straight thru the intersection (as if West Street was extended). This is the business park and you are now on Emerson Parkway. If you look straight ahead and down the hill, you will see our building.
